Here you can find out what’s going on here in the studio, interesting things happening in the world regarding marketing and strategy, and thoughts we have on subjects like Star Wars and Samurai Jack. Occasionally one of our office coordinators might stop by and give you their view on things too! Guaranteed to be a good read.
Google has been grabbing headlines with its most recent attempt to gain some of Facebook’s market share with Google+. Regardless which social media company dominates, social media is and will remain a powerful marketing tool. Gilday Creative is currently working on social marketing campaigns with several organizations, promoting their brand and services. We also have our own Facebook page, www.facebook.com/GildayCreative, allowing us to update our fans on current projects, showcase our portfolio, and interact with our audience.
We recently designed an adorable little bull as our mascot with the logo, “Branding that doesn’t hurt cows.” Although our mascot was cute and cuddly and had a tongue-in-cheek logo, he still didn’t have a name. Instead of simply naming him ourselves, we opted to give our fans on Facebook the opportunity to name him, with the person who entered the winning name receiving a Gilday Creative T-shirt. We first asked our fans to brainstorm ideas, which generated dozens of names. We narrowed the suggestions down to four names and asked our fans to vote. During the voting process, some of our fans even attempted to improve their odds of winning by suggesting Gilday’s Creative’s Facebook page to their friends.
Initially, we started out just to have some fun with our fans by having them come up with a quirky name for our mascot, but we also succeeded in promoting our business by increasing fan traffic, gaining new fans, and awarding promotional material as a prize. Below is a summary of key Facebook activities for our page for that week:

It is unrealistic to assume such growth can be maintained over the long term, but it does demonstrate how easy it is to promote your company by properly engaging your fans. Our fans enjoyed coming up with silly names for our mascot, while indirectly promoting our company to their friends. Our informal contest is something to consider the next time your company or organization wants to promote itself on social networking sites.
And our mascot’s name? Pixel!
Welcome to Gilday Creatives new blog!! This will be the place to find out what’s happening in the studio, anything interesting we think is going in the marketing world and beyond, plus the occasional commentary from our office coordinators (<- that should be a real howl).
Please bear with us as we get most of the kinks ironed out and all our projects posted. We’re eager to share with you all that we have done for our past clients and what we can do for you.
